Actor Pratik Gandhi is gearing up for his upcoming web show, The Great Indian Murder. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said the issue of casteism is a deeply rooted one in the country.
The Caste system is still very deep-rooted in our society for all the processes. after a point, it is difficult to realise how wrong it is. Even our regular conversations, the way work has been distributed, the way our surnames are Given.
He shared some of his own experiences.
"I used to work for a company that set up power plants across India. We had to acquire land, Most of the landowners would usually seek jobs in our company along with the price of the land. Often you do not get educated people as landowners You, have to offer them jobs of a helper or like that. But if the landowner was from a higher cast, the person would refuse to take those jobs. Things do not work like that in Today's Corporate world, but for them, their lives depend on it".
Pratik continued I could not believe it when, the first time I heard it, I am not talking about far back. It was just around five years ago. I have encountered such people across the country. Casteism is one of the Biggest Demons we are all fighting with. Caste is also a prominent theme in the upcoming web show "The Great Indian Murder" Tigmanshu Dhulia understands these things very well.
